Who?
I'm the founder and sole operator of 1stPrint.net. From sourcing and grading to listing products and preparing shipments, I handle every aspect of the business myself to ensure the best possible experience for customers.
I grew up in France in the 80s and 90s, when Japanese anime dominated childhood TV screens, dubbed in French. My journey into manga began in the early 90s, when the first translated books opened up an incredible variety of themes and stories for Western readers.
In high school, I joined a fansub team specialized in 80s anime, the very series my whole team and I grew up with, watching them dubbed in French. In fansub, we subtitled the original Japanese audio in French (VOSTFR). That passion later led me to work, officially, in the subtitling of Japanese anime DVDs in France.
This fascination with Japanese culture grew over the years and ultimately led me to move to Japan in 2015.
Before launching 1stPrint.net, I managed an eBay store specializing in retrogaming, where I developed extensive experience in sourcing and selling rare items. In 2023, I discovered the market for first print manga and saw the potential for creating a dedicated store. In 2024, Beckett launched its manga grading service, opening a new chapter for collectors.
Why?
I started 1stPrint.net by selling raw first print manga, out of my passion for the medium and my desire to fill a gap in the market. Over time, it became very difficult to find first prints of good quality, and from popular series, out in the wild.
With Beckett's grading now available for manga, I now focus on grading the volumes and series that I consider historic, from my own point of view. Each graded volume is a piece of manga history that collectors can buy with confidence.
